BPW Investing Club BPW
members organized an Investing Club in 2002 to learn more about investments and
money management and to enhance social relations among the group.
Membership in
the Investing Club is open to any member of Business & Professional Women.
The group currently has eleven members. Meetings are held monthly. Each member
must contribute a minimum of $25.00 per month to the club's funds, which are
then used for the purchase of stocks. Members follow individual stocks and
report at the meetings on the progress of those stocks.
| In 2008 the Investing Club maintained its portfolio at 20
stocks, choosing to purchase more of those stocks it already owned rather
than buying new companies. The portfolio is balanced among types of
stocks. With the market downturn, the portfolio is worth less than it was
at the end of the previous year, but the club has earned good dividends
and plans to stick to its policy of investing for the long term. The Manhattan club
is a member of the National Association of Investors, an organization by
and for investing clubs. |
