Schedule

Manhattan BPW meets monthly, on the first Monday of each month (with some exceptions for holidays). Meetings are held at the Clarion Hotel, corner of Fort Riley Boulevard and Richards Drive. We begin to gather at 6:00 p.m. to mingle and network. Dinner is served at 6:30 p.m. The cost of dinner is $12.50 per person. October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. BPW members shared in the recognition held at the Riley County Courthouse Plaza on October 2. BPW helps support The Crisis Center, Inc., and a representative of Manhattan BPW was present at the Manhattan City Commission meeting on October 13, when the city issued a proclamation declaring Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

October 19-23 2009: Business Women's Week
Created in 1928, National Business Women's Week has been sponsored by BPW/USA for the purpose of recognizing and honoring the achievements of working women throughout history. The observance calls attention to women entrepreneurs, the needs of working women, workplace policies, and raises awareness of the resources available for women in their communities.

Business Women's Week begins on the Monday of the third full business week in October. Each U.S. President since Herbert Hoover has opened the first day of Business Women's Week with a letter recognizing the contributions and achievements of working women.

March 29, 2010: Friendship Dinner, sponsored this year by Manhattan BPW. The Friendship Dinner is an annual event in Manhattan since 1945 at which members of women's clubs and associations join together for friendly communication, dinner, and a program. The featured speaker is Noel Schulz, Professor of Engineering and wife of K-State's President.

April 2010: Equal Pay Day
Equal Pay Day is recognized each year in April on the date on which the average woman reaches the earnings the average man earned in the previous year. Women on average earn 77 cents for every dollar paid to their male counterparts.

June 4-6. 2010: Kansas BPW state convention in Manhattan.

August 26, 2010: Women's Equality Day
This day is the anniversary of the 19th amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which gave women the right to vote.
